Metadata for Custom Properties

CloudCenter enables you to add metadata for custom properties.

Out-of-Box Macro Support

See CloudCenter-Defined Parameters for additional context

In the Metadata section, value is a required field if you check the mandatory check box.

Adding Metadata Information

When adding a new service, you can use global parameters, tier/step-specific system parameters, or user-defined parameters and add values at deployment time.

  • Service-Level Metadata: The metadata is specific to service. If you use this service, the firewall metadata is displayed in the application and tier.

  • Global-Application Level: The metadata applies to all tiers and steps within this application – The (Topology Modeler Global Information) for the application being defined.

  • Tier-Level Metadata: The firewall metadata is specific to each step or tier within an application.

Metadata Use Case

You can associate metadata information such as deployment environments, username of the person launching the job, firewall rules, and so forth. See  CloudCenter-Defined Parameters and Application Tier Properties for additional context.

You can also associate the metadata with a job either in the Topology Modeler (Basic Information tab) or during the deployment process. See System Tags > Applying Tags as Annotations for additional context.

Subsequently, users can search for these tags in the cloud provider console as long as the cloud provider has the API required to obtain the metadata information from these tags.
